Oasis front man Liam Gallagher is showing no signs of toning himself down. In a wacked out interview with Q magazine Liam expunged on Sponge Bob Squarepants: “Sponge Bob is a f****** mental, full-of-beans, enthusiastic sponge that lives at the bottom of the sea in Bikini Bottom. He’s mad for it. He’s got a mate called Squidward who plays the clarinet and is grumpy like our kid Noel.”

One wonders what drugs Liam has been taking recently and where one could procure some. Perhaps he has just been watching too much television. One also wonders why he would be bigging up a cartoon sponge who flips hamburgers for a living.

No our Liam doesn’t see it that way and adores Sponge Bob. Liam went on to explain: “I’m having a huge painting done at the minute, a proper Andy Warhol-style portrait of Sponge Bob. He’ll be facing Elvis and Hendrix in the living room.”

Liam appears to have a fixation on sea creatures. He has taken to calling himself The Salmon King. Liam divulged to Q: “I f****** love Henly, I go into my local and say I am the Salmon King, stand back.”

One wonders whether Liam actually meant The Fisher King in this apparent state of sleep deprivation. The Fisher King was a figure in Arthurian legend who was the last in a lineage to guard the Holy Grail. The Fisher King was also known as the Wounded King as his legs were wounded and all her could do was guard the grail and fish. The legend is confused and often describes two Grail Kings, the elder being the Wounded King and the younger being the Fisher King who actually does the fishing.

And then there is the Celtic mythology about the Salmon of Wisdom.

I see the potential for a treasure trove of new material for Oasis coming out of this theme. The fish is also a symbol for Christ. Liam did once say: “Lennon was right. And we are bigger than Jesus.”

Tickets for the Oasis tour sold out in just one hour. 180,000 tickets were snapped up by Oasis fans over the telephone and the internet. All went smoothly with no network problems. Several thousand Oasis fans queued up outside Wembley Arena, Bournemouth, and Sheffield.
